WHO IS JESUS?
Who Is Jesus? Is He a prophet, teacher, healer, the Messiah, a god, the God or all of the above? That is the question of the ages.
John the Apostle wastes no time declaring the identity of Jesus. In John 1:1, he states that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being...And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-3, 14)
Simply put, John is stating that Jesus is God in the Flesh. He is the source and sustainer of all things that the Greek philosophers spoke about. He is the Messiah that the Jews anxiously anticipated. And He is the living water for our thirsty souls. (John 4:7-14, 26)
On a roll, John the Apostle does not stop there. He continues by stating that in Jesus there was life. (John 1:4) The life John is referencing is not merely physical life. Yes, as God in the Flesh, the One who spoke things into existence, Jesus was and still is the creator and sustainer of all life.
But He is also the way by which we obtain eternal life. In John 3, the bible says "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him". (John 3:16-17)
That's Love!!! God sent His Son Jesus to pay the price for our sins. (2 Cor 5:21)
We all have sinned. But instead of us paying the price for that sin, God has provided us with a free gift named Jesus who paid the price for us. (Romans 3:23, 6:23) And in order to receive this free gift, we must choose to accept Jesus the Christ as Lord and believe in our hearts that God has raised Him from the dead. (Romans 10:9)
So I have a question. Have you made that choice? Have you made the choice to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If not, we invite you to say this prayer.
